Mikel dropped from Keshi's latest squad called up for June 13 qualifier against Chad

altCHELSEA midfielder Mikel Obi has been dropped from the list of players invited to the Super Eagles squad to face Chad in a June 13 2017 African Nations Cup qualifier taking place at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

 

In the list released yesterday by head coach Stephen Keshi, goalkeeper and skipper Vincent Enyeama heads the caste of 15 overseas players invited for the match. Among those invited include regulars Godfrey Oboabona, Kenneth Omeruo, Ogenyi Onazi, Michael Babatunde and Ahmed Musa.

 

All five players alongside Enyeama, featured in last year’s World Cup finals in Brazil and will form the backbone of the team. Other invitees include right back Leon Balogun who plays in Die Bundesliga, John Ogu, former Switzerland junior international Steven Ukoh, China-based Aaron Samuel, Odion Ighalo and former junior international Rabiu Ibrahim.

 

New faces include William Troost-Ekong, a defender based in The Netherlands, Kingsley Madu of AS Trencin in Slovakia and Portugal-based Anderson Esiti. They will be augmented by a crop of home-based players.
