GOVERNOR Adams Oshiomole's daughter Winifred Isimakhome has lashed out at those criticising her father for marrying a 25-year old undergraduate and former model as ignorant asking them to leave the couple alone.
Yesterday, Governor Oshiomole, 63, married Ethiopian model Lara Forte at a lavish ceremony in Auchi in Edo State. Among the guests who attended were president-elect Muhammadu Buhari, All Progressives Congress national chairman Chief John Odigie and several other state governors.
Since the wedding, the governor has been criticised for marrying a woman half his age, while Lara, has been labelled a gold digger. Incensed at the scorn being poured on the couple, Ms Oshiomole has said those being critical do not know what transpires between the two.
She also explained why the entire family were absent for the day, adding that information about the ceremony was not circulated on time.
None of Governor Oshiomole's children were at the ceremony, prompting reports that they did not approve of their father's actions.
Ms Oshiomole said: "I think my father has finally gotten the heart to move on and Nigerians should learn to respect his decision. I saw so many bad comments and I say these people don’t even know half of the story and they just go about writing ignorantly.
"Information for the day was not properly circulated and I would say I was busy taking care of my life, work and my family and I must have missed out on the plan but I cannot say for the rest of my sisters but I am sure we were not properly informed. I wish the couple a great married life and I am sure she will make my father happy."
Governor Oshiomhole remarried five years after he lost his first wife Clara who died after several years of battling with cancer. Since she passed away, Governor Oshiomhole has been under pressure from traditional rulers including the Oba of Benin to take another wife and he finally succumbed and decided to tie the knot with Ms Forte.
