SUPER Eagles winger Victor Moses has celebrated his recall to the national team with a bang by scoring for his club West Ham as they secured a dramatic 2-1 away victory over English Premier League leaders Manchester City yesterday.
Dropped by Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh for the last two international games, Moses, was recalled last week for two impending friendlies against Congo and Cameroon in Belgium next month. Signalling that he is back to his best form, Moses found the back of the net as early as the sixth minute yesterday.
On loan from Chelsea, Moses had a great debut for the Hammers last weekend in the 2-0 win against Newcastle United at Upton Park and sparkled again yesterday at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester when he hit a beautiful strike past England goalkeeper Joe Hart for the curtain raiser. His goal spurred the Hammers and they duly grabbed the second goal of the match through Senegalese striker Diafra Sakho who tucked in a rebound after Joe Hart punched away Wintson Reid’s header from a Dmitry Payet corner.
However, the home side pulled a goal back on the stroke of half time when record signing Kevin de Bruyne received a pass from current African footballer of the Year, Yaya Toure and coolly finished from 20 yards in his first premier league start in front of the Manchester City fans. West Ham manager Slaven Bilic took Victor Moses off after an hour of play as he solidified the team in the face of heavy Manchester City attacks, which was intensified with the introduction of Nigerian wonder kid Kelechi Iheanacho in the last six minutes.
