Kelechi Iheanacho sets sights on becoming a Manchester City regular starter next year

altSUPER Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has vowed to get better next season having now established himself as a prominent member and regular starters of Manchester City's star-studded team.

Iheanacho, 19, signed for Manchester City in January 2014 and was given the number 72 jersey and has since gradually worked his way into the club's first team. This season, he has blossomed immensely, scoring 13 goals, seven in the Premiership, despite not being a regular starter and having shown he is a class act.

Over the weekend, Kelechi started in Manchester City's 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium and is now one of the fans' favourites. Although he did not score at the weekend, Kelechi had a fine game and is hoping his team manages to qualify for the Uefa Champions League next season.

Kelechi said:  “It’s not bad this season but I’ve got to keep working hard. This is not going to be the best season ever, I’m just starting and there will more good to come, I’ll just keep working hard and working on everything in training and in games and I’ll get there.

“My record isn’t bad, this season has been great for me and for the team as well. I’ve been getting goals in the team and helping them.”

He added that he believes he can only go from strength-to-strength at Manchester City after forcing his way into the first-team squad. Last weekend, Iheanacho scored twice in the 4-2 defeat at Southampton on May 1, making him the club's third highest goal scorer behind Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne.
