Lagos woman arrested for burning 7-year old nephew's genitals after he stole N100

altMEN of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a housewife simply known as Saratu for burning the testicles of her seven year old nephew Razak Qudus after he stole N100 (26p) from his school.

Razak, who is a primary four pupil in a private school, lived with his aunt in the Afariogun, Oshodi area of Lagos State. Saratu discovered he stole the money from school and consequently opted to rub pepper on his genitals before then burning him a stove as a means of punishment.

Saratu’s neighbours reported the matter to a coordinator of the Child Protection Network, Ebenezer Omejalile, living in the area, who in turn reported to the police. After that, the matter was reported at the Makinde Police Division, Oshodi, and Saratu was subsequently arrested.

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the arrest. Mr Omejalile said the victim had been taken to a hospital for a check-up while the police had charged the suspect to court.

Mr Omejalile said:  “The victim is her nephew and the boy attends a private nursery and primary school around Afariogun Junction. He was accused of stealing the money in the school and the woman brutalised the boy’s genitals.

"While we were at the police station, I also informed the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Team, Alausa. I am sure justice will be done in this matter and the boy has been taken into government’s custody.”

According to an eyewitness, Saratu rubbed pepper on the boy’s genitals and started beating him. In the process, Razak fell on a burning stove and incurred burns in his private parts.
