Member of Buhari's presidential guard arrested for allegedly being a member of Boko Haram

altSECURITY officials have arrested Corporal Hassan Aminu of President Muhammadu Buhari's presidential bodyguard amid suspicions that he is a member of terrorist sect Boko Haram.

Waging a war against the Nigerian state since 2009, Boko Haram has been known to have infiltrated Nigeria's security forces and in the past, military secrets have been passed on to the sect. Former president Dr Goodluck Jonathan once admitted that his administration was full of Boko Haram moles and operatives.

Nigerian Army units have been known to be ambushed by Boko Haram insurgents after details of their operations have been passed on but never has the infiltration got as far as the presidential guard.  However, earlier this week, Corporal Aminu was arrested by men from the National Security Adviser's (NSA) office and is currently undergoing interrogation.

One security source said that Corporal Aminu has strong links with the deputy leader of the Wilāyat Gharb Ifrīqīyyah terror group. In response to the security breach the NSA's office has begun a complete overhaul of the president’s security agents.
