Secretary to federal government admits Buhari regime is only probing PDP members

altSECRETARY to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal has conceded that the Buhari administration is not going after any member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for now as it is focusing its attention on the previous regime.

Since assuming power in May last year, President Muhammadu Buhari has made the fight against corruption his main priority and numerous former government officials have been arrested and are facing charges. However, President Buhari has come under criticism for only focusing investigations on members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and not going after members of his own APC.

Yesterday, Mr Lawal admitted that the government is not focusing on probing members of the APC for now. He also gave reasons for the failure to name ambassadorial nominees in certain states just as he justified the recent recruitment into the Federal Inland Revenue Service and the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Furthermore, Mr Lawal said the report of the 2014 National Conference organised by the Goodluck Jonathan administration was not a priority of the Buhari administration.  He added that President Buhari was too busy to study the report of the National Conference, so will not be implementing it for now.
