KOGI State governor Yahaya Bello has been left stranded at Aminu Kano International Airport unable to make the lesser hajj to Mecca after it emerged that his visa to Saudi Arabia has expired.
In a highly embarrassing development, Governor Bello was stopped from travelling to Saudi Arabia at the airport yesterday as his travel visa had expired. Governor Bello had boarded the Saudi Arabia bound aircraft and sat on his reserved seat while his aides were busy processing his travel documents only to discover that his visa has expired.
Shortly after the discovery of the expired visa on his passport, the visibly disappointed governor had no alternative but to disembark from the aircraft. After the humiliating disembarkation, Governor Bello proceeded to the Kano State Government House, where he spent the night.
In December, Governor Bello of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the Kogi State governor-elect after ascertaining that he won supplementary elections following the original polls. Prince Abubakar Audu, who was the APC's original flagbearer died of a stroke before the Independent National Electoral Commission announced the winner and was replaced by Alhaji Bello.
