DEPARMENT of State Services (DSS) officials have unveiled a plot by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) to bomb Nigeria’s largest computer market the Computer Village in Lagos State.
According to the DSS, Ipob is planning to blow up the market in Ikeja as part of a programme to make Nigeria ungovernable and force the government to negotiate secession with it. Since last year, Ipob has been campaigning to recreate the defunct state of Biafra and has been agitating for the release of its leader Nnamdi Kanu.
One DSS spokesman named a certain Chidiebere Onwudiwe, a graduate of mechanical and chemical engineering, who is currently under arrest, as the mastermind behind the plot. Apparently, he is working with foreign and local members of Ipob to perfect the plot and there were further plans to bomb worship centres and parks during the coming Eid el Fitri festivities
In a related development, the DSS said its operatives had arrested two suspected members of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) linked to militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo. He was said to be making separate plans for the assassination of a Kaduna-based military officer and the bombing of oil and gas pipelines.
