Due to be a lavish society bash, the wedding is also expected to attract former heads of state, General Yakubu Gowon, General Ibrahim Babangida, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and the All Progressives Congress (APC) top brass. It is due to take place in Auchi in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state followed by reception for guests at his Iyamho country home.
Other guests expected at the event include APC national chairman Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola, Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola and Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha. Already, all the hotels in Auchi , Ekpoma, Uromi and other neighbouring towns have been fully booked by guests ahead of the ceremony.
Ms Forte, a former model and air hostess is in her 30s, while Governor Oshiomole, who lost his first wife, Clara on December 8, 2010, is 63. Governor Oshiomhole is re-marrying five years after he lost Clara who died after several years of battle with cancer.
Since she passed away, Governor Oshiomhole has been under pressure from traditional rulers including the Oba of Benin to take another wife who will be of assistance to him at home. He finally succumbed and decided to tie the knot with Ms Forte.
In the wedding invitations sent out, Governor Oshiomhole said: “While looking forward to the honour of your distinguished presence, I sincerely crave your pardon for the rather short notice. Please accept the renewed assurances of my highest esteem.”
