Enyeama says he will only join Liverpool if he is guaranteed playing time and more pay

altSUPER Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama has reacted to recent speculation linking him with Merseyside giants Liverpool saying that he will only make the switch if he guaranteed first team action at Anfield.

Last season, Enyeama was one of his best goalkeepers in the world, keeping 21 clean sheets during the season for his French club Lille. He then skippered the Eagles to African Cup of Nations victory and was also instrumental in Nigeria reaching the last 16 at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Enyeama, 32, is currently contracted to Lille until 2017 but several English clubsides particularly Liverpool have been reported to be keen on bringing him to the English Premiership. Enyeama has responded saying he is not averse to making a move away from Lille but added that he must be assured of regular playing time and more money than what he currently earns in France.

“The truth is I will not be leaving Lille for any club if I am not guaranteed of playing regularly and earning more money.  I won’t take a pay cut to move to England just like some players do.

"I won’t do that, so if I am moving, it has to be because I will play regularly and earn more money. I don’t like jumping into offers because it’s always very difficult when you change clubs," Enyeama added.

Pointing out that his family is settled in Lille, Enyeama stressed that the entire package had to be worth his while to make him change environment. Last month, Enyeama was voted the 18th best goalkeeper in the world by British newspaper The Telegraph after it conducted an online poll of its readers asking them to vote on the subject.
