Keshi and Enyeama face the prospect of disciplinary action over different offences

altSUPER Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama and head coach Stephen Keshi both face the prospect of sever disciplinary action from the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for separate offences that could threaten their future with the team.

Enyeama had been summoned before the NFF's Organising and Disciplinary Committee after he publicly tore up a query issued to him for criticising the security in the city of Kaduna when the Eagles played Chad there on June 13. However, he failed to show up at the hearing yesterday, raising the prospect of a ban or suspension.

Coach Keshi for his part was summoned for applying for the job of Ivory Coast manager while still contracted to the NFF. Keshi who honoured the invitation, also faced questions on his alleged bias in the selection of players during the recent African Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad in Kaduna.

Keshi who attended the NFF secretariat in the company of his manager Emma Ado, said his main concern at the moment is how to adequately prepare the Super Eagles for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania in September. He added that he had told the NFF everything he had to say on the matter for which he was summoned.

“What is on my mind today is the next African Cup of Nations game against Tanzania and how to defeat them in September. We thank God for the victory against Chad in Kaduna, the next should be how to consolidate on that victory that should be our target now and not who said what.

“I have said it before that I did not apply for the Ivorian job because I have a job which I am happy with. But talking about court, I will not do that because my name is everywhere and if I take them to court will I also take Kenya and Ghana to court? That is the experience of every coach in the world,” Keshi added.

He pointed out that he did not know why Enyeama did not appear before the NFF committee and could not speak on behalf of the player. Keshi maintained that at no stage did he apply for the Ivorian job.
