Popular for his leading role in the film Tinsel Town, Mr Olaotan, 63, will be recognised alongside other entertainment veterans on the night. Among them will be veteran photographer James Barnor and actress Ellen Thomas, with all three being honoured for their contributions to the arts and entertainment industry.
Held every year, the International Achievement Recognitions Awards were established to encourage young and upcoming artists, entertainers, fashionistas and musicians. This year’s event will hand out awards in over 10 categories, rewarding those who have contributed to the growth and development in their industries.
International Achievement Recognitions Awards managing director Bola Imuaphe, the chief executive of organisers JoeBol Exquisite, said: “This is our second year and we want to make a big splash by granting honour to whom it is due. We have decided to recognise these three veterans this year because of their contributions to the arts over the last three decades.”
Mrs Imuaphe added that Ms Thomas aged 59 and Mr Barnor aged 83, are highly respected professionals in their respective fields who inspire the young. According to Ms Imuaphe, she hopes that many youngsters take a cue from this trio and aspire to become the very best at what they do.
Among the other industry veterans who will get awards on the night will include Penelope Jones-Mensah, who will be honoured as an international women’s leader at the event. Expected to attract a large crowd, the event will be attended by industry veterans, community leaders and representatives of the Nigerian high commission.
