PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari's wife Hadjiya Aisha Buhari has chosen to spend Eid-el- Kabir Sallah period handing out food to the less privileged as she used the occasion to visit an orphanage at Giri in the Federal Capital Territory.
In line with the stance taken by her husband that eschews ostentation and unnecessary flamboyance, Hadjiya Buhari opted to spend the festivities with the less fortunate rather than hold parties. Yesterday, she visited the Giri orphanage where she appealed to caregivers in homes to pay greater attention to the growth of the children at every stage to properly develop their capacity for a stable future.
According to Hadjiya Buhari, it was imperative to take proper care of children by showing them love and care so they could become future leaders in their own right like any other child in the country. She expressed optimism that necessary attention would be accorded orphanages by governments in improving facilities to meet required standard.
John Chukwu, the permanent secretary of the Federal Capital Territory administration, said the motherly gesture of the wife of the president was a morale booster that would have positive impact on children. Hadjiya Buhari later shared a Sallah meal with the children and presented thank-you gifts to the children before inspecting dormitories as part of her facility assessment tour.
