DELTA State traditional ruler the Dein of Agbor Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi I has paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari in what is believed to be part of the government's consultation as it prepares to name ministers this week.
Since assuming office on May 29, President Buhari has been governing with ministers as he is aiming to put together a cabinet made up of individuals without blemish. This desire to find ministers with no cases of corruption against them has delayed repeated attempts to come up with a ministerial list.
Over recent months, several high profile nominees have had to be dropped after Department of State Security screening revealed that they have corruption cases to answer. This week, however, President Buhari is hoping to finally public his list of ministerial nominees and several high profile names have visited the presidential villa as part of the process.
At the top of the list is Lagos lawyer Femi Falana, expected to be named attorney-general and minister for justice, while others reported to have visited the villa this week include Pat Utomi, Charles Soludo and former Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi. It is believed that the Dein of Agbor was being consulted about the process by President Buhari, who is trying to reach out to as many Nigerians as possible.
Dr Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi has been passionately campaigning to attract foreign investment into Nigeria arguing that the nation's rich cultural heritage should be attractive to investors. Last year, he visited Hungary, where he was received by Zsolt Nemeth, the president, of the foreign affairs committee of the Hungarian National Assembly, as part of this plan.
