Oliseh set to recall Mikel, Moses and Ighalo for Cameroon and Congo games next month

altSUPER Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has recalled English Premiership stars Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Odion Ighalo for Nigeria's forthcoming friendly games against Congo and Cameroon next month.

Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) officials have confirmed that the Super Eagles will play two friendly games against Cameroon and Congo respectively in Belgium next month as part of coach Sunday Oliseh's plans to rebuild the team. Under the NFF's programme, the Eagles will face Congo at Antwerp on October 8 and then play perennial rivals, Cameroon in Brussels three days later.

Upon assuming office in July, Oliseh has been in charge of one competitive game away to Tanzania and a friendly at home to Niger Republic a few days later. He did not call any of the English Premiership players to camp for both games but with the Eagles putting in a lacklustre performance in their African Nations Cup qualifier away in Dar es Salaam, Oliseh has decided to strengthen the squad.

Nigeria's next competitive game will be a tough one at home to Egypt in March when the Nations Cup qualifiers begin, so Oliseh will need a full strength squad for the match. Mikel of Chelsea, Moses, currently on loan to West Ham and Ighalo of Watford, will add significant depth to the team.

Monaco’s Elderson Echiejile is also expected to be recalled to the squad to compete for the leftback position. It is not yet clear of other players plying their trade in the UK like Efe Ambrose of Celtic, Juwon Oshaniwa of Hearts, Osaze Odemwingie of Stoke City or Kelechi Iheanacho of Manchester City will be invited for the games.
