Delta woman abandons six month old baby on rubbish dump after dispute with hubby

altDELTA State Police Command officials plan to charge Annabel Owhoghovo a mother from the Isoko part of the state for attempted murder after she abandoned her six month old baby on a rubbish dump following a dispute with her husband.

Over the weekend, Ms Owhoghovo and her husband had a bitter quarrel which degenerated into physical combat, with the couple trading punches. Apparently, on Thursday evening, when Annabela’s husband returned from work, he asked her to massage his feet but she was reluctant to carry out the task, which sparked the row.

Their spat continued into Friday morning after some neighbours who got wind of their quarrel moved in to settle the dispute. However, Annabel then told her husband that she was visiting her mother in Abraka, only for her to dump the baby on a waste dump midway.

Cries from the baby was said to have called the attention of a passersby, who took the baby to a police station in the community. Celestina Kalu, the public relations officer of the Delta State Police Command, confirmed the arrest, saying Annabel is presently helping them with their investigations.

Ms Kalu also added that the accused will be charged to court upon the completion of police investigations. It is believed that the baby is hale and hearty despite going through the terrible ordeal.
