SUPER Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has continued his fine form scoring an equaliser for his clubside Watford yesterday that not only helped them snatch an away draw in Bournemouth but also catapulted him to number three in the Premier League scoring charts.
Since the start of the season, Ighalo, has been in scintillating form and has so far scored five goals since the start of the current campaign. Yesterday, he found the back of the net just on the stroke of half time, enabling Watford to grab a much needed point and maintain their position as a mid table team.
In a tense match yesterday, the home side shot into the lead in the 28th minute thanks to Glenn Murray who converted a brilliant assist from teammate Matt Ritchie. However, the jubilation was short-lived when Ighalo rattled defenders in the 45th minute to level scores at 1-1 in front of 11,187 spectators at the Vitality Stadium.
Although the hosts maintained 53% possession as against Watford’s 47%, the remaining half of the game failed to provide further goals for either side. Ighalo, who has so far made about 41 appearances for Watford with 24 goals since joining them last year, has recorded goals this season against the likes of Newcastle and Swansea in the Premier League.
With yesterday's draw Watford move up to 11th in the English Premiership table and now stretch their impressive away league form to a run of just one defeat from their last 13 matches. In their next game, they host Arsenal on October 17, before a trip to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City.
