Barcelona prepares to visit Lagos and conclude the signing of Victor Osimhen for €1m

altBARCELONA has become the latest club to express an interest in signing Golden Eaglets striker Victor Osimhen by offering a €1m signing on fee to secure his services and bring him to the Nou Camp.

Currently the holders of the Uefa Champions League, Barcelona is Europe's biggest clubside and its 100,000 capacity stadium is also the continent's largest. Over the weekend, Barcelona moved a huge step closer to retaining the Spanish league with a comfortable 4-0 victory over its main rival Real Madrid.

Osimhen, 16, was revelation of the recent Fifa U17 World Cup which took place in Chile, winning the golden boot and setting a tournament scoring record by finding the back of the net 10 times. Apart from his ruthlessness in front of goal, Osimhen, who scored in every game of the tournament, is also a great targetman, who holds the ball up all brilliantly, allowing teammates to be brought into play.

He is also very powerful in the air, where he wins a majority of headers and it is thus no surprise that given his all round scintillating performance, several European clubs began seeking his services. Premiership giants Tottenham Hotspurs and Liverpool were said to have been on his case, with the London club reported to have opened talks with his Nigerian academy.

Barcelona officials are said to be willing to storm Nigeria to conclude the deal and word rife that the Spanish champions are ready to outbid whatever offer any European side comes up with. Osimhen’s agent, Shera Yusuf is favourably disposed to the enticing offer from Barcelona and the prospect of his ward training with soccer greats such as Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luiz Suarez.

It is believed that Barcelona’s youth scout Ryan Hartsfield, is preparing to visit Lagos to begin negotiating the deal. Apparently, Mr Hartsfield has been authorised by Barcelona not to allow Osimhen slip through the club's net.
