Diezani asks to be flown to TB Joshua's church in Lagos from London as her health worsens

altFORMER petroleum minister Diezani Alison-Madueke has asked her family to fly her back to Nigeria for spiritual help in the church of Lagos evangelist Pastor TB Joshua as she is no longer responding to medical treatment and her condition has worsened.

Currently in the UK, Ms Alison-Madueke was arrested at her west London home by the UK's National Crime Agency (NCA) and taken to Charing Cross Police Station, where she was quizzed for several hours. She was later released on bail to appear in court where an injunction was obtained to seize £27,000 from her and she was asked to deposit her passport with the court.

Ms Alison-Madueke, who has taken up residence in the UK since May when she left office, claims she is unwell and according to her family, she has undergone successful surgery for cancer. However, her family adds that over recent weeks, her situation has deteriorated and she is no longer responding to treatment.

As her condition has grown worse, the embattled ex-minister has apparently ordered her relatives to jet her back into Nigeria this Friday. One close insider hinted that the family has concluded plans to visit popular Lagos evangelical clergyman Pastor T B Joshua of the Synagogue Church of All Nations for prayers.

“They have decided to fly her back into the country this Friday to seek spiritual help. Her condition worsened last weekend and she personally asked the family to return her to the country.

“She has not tasted any solid food since last Monday and she did not speak throughout Thursday. When she eventually spoke Friday morning, she ordered them to return her to the country to visit Prophet T. B Joshua for prayers,” the source added.

All along Ms Alison-Madueke has maintained her innocence, claiming that she did not steal a dime while in office. According to her, she left $5.6bn in the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) account, contrary to the report that she milked the nation treasury dry before leaving office.

“I actually left $5.6bn in the NLNG alone but no one is talking about it. I’m not seeking to be praised but to be acknowledged that I made some little contributions.

“That money could have been wasted on frivolities but I was determined to keep something for the incoming government once we lost the election,” Ms Alison-Madueke added.
