English Premiership league leaders Manchester City poised to sign Kelechi Nwakali

altENGLISH Premiership league leaders Manchester City have begun moves to sign Golden Eaglets skipper Kelechi Nwakali after his impressive display in the just-concluded U17 World Cup where he was voted the player of the tournament.

Kelechi's older brother Chidiebere, is already on Manchester City's books after being signed up alongside Kelechi Iheanacho after the 2013 U17 World Cup. Nigeria won the cup two years ago, with Iheanacho being voted the player of the tournament and Manchester City subsequently moved in to sign two of the Eaglets.

With the team having retained the trophy, the Premiership side are looking to do the same thing and are favourites to sign Kelechi as he would have the luxury of playing at the same club as his brother. Although Chidiebere is yet to break into the first team in Manchester, Iheanacho now features regularly for the side.

Several other English Premiership sides have already made enquiries about Eaglets striker Victor Osimhen who became the highest ever scorer in the history of the U17 World Cup, scoring 10 goals at the Chile championship. Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs are said to be looking at the player but the London club is considered favourites having already begun talks with his current side in Nigeria.

Manchester City is believed to have already sorted out a deal for the younger Nwakali to arrive at the club soon. Back in February, his agent, Klay Ekeocha, said that the club were leading the race to sign him but a move never materialised at the time.
