SUPER Eagles in-form striker Odion Ighalo has promised to continue with his current goalscoring streak today when his Watford hosts Tottenham Hotspurs at Vicarage Road this afternoon in the English Premiership.
Currently one of the hottest properties in the English Premiership, Ighalo has scored 13 league goals so far this season, finding the back of the net in Watford's last five games. He is the second highest scorer in the league behind Leicester City's Jamie Vardie and is on course to break the Nigerian record of 17 goals scored by Yakubu Aiyegbeni in one season.
On Boxing Day, Ighalo added to his tally with a stunning goal away to Chelsea when his club secured a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. Apart from his goalscoring, Ighalo has also been a revelation on the pitch, with his overall display and his penchant for dumping defenders on the seat of the pants with his now famous move known as the Ighalo Scoop.
Ighalo said: “It’s going to be a difficult game because Spurs are a good team and they have quality. They have been winning games too so it’s going to be difficult, but in football anything can happen.
“This is England, you have to be ready for everything, so I’ll be ready to go again today. Our supporters are always behind us at home and with the way we are playing, if we push to the end we will have a chance to win the game.”
According to Ighalo, the Hornets were good value for their Boxing Day point at Stamford Bridge, even if there was a slight hint of regret at having not seen the game out from a winning position. Watford had taken a 2-1 lead in the match thanks to Ighalo but Chelsea equalised in the second half to share the points.
