SUPER Falcons and Arsenal Ladies striker Asisat Oshoala has been pencilled down to speak at Fifa's Women’s Football and Leadership Conference taking place in Switzerland next month.
Last year's BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year, Oshoala, 21, has been one of the greatest revelations in global female football. In January 2015, she became the first African to feature in England's Women’s Super League when she signed for Liverpool, with manager Matt Beard calling her one of the world’s top young footballers.
Oshoala switched teams and joined Arsenal Ladies last year as the London club appreciated her unique skills. She will now join a number of footballing legends at the event that includes the likes of 2012 Fifa Women’s World Player of the Year Abby Wambach, Samar Nassar, the chief executive of the Local Organising Committee for the 2 016 U-17 Women’s World Cup and Brigitte Henriques, the general secretary of the French Football Association.
Themed Equality Through Reform, the conference will also be addressed by Barbara Slater, the director of BBC Sport. Panel speakers on diversity for success will include Ebru Köksal, Michael Kimmel, Donna de Varona, Felicite Rwemarika and Annie Zaidi.
Panel speakers on 2016 Fifa reforms on women’s football and women in football will include Sunil Gulati, the president of the United States Soccer Federation. Other speakers in this category will include Moya Dodd, Sarai Bareman, Sylvia Schenk and Amanda Davies of CNN Sports.
