London court dissolves Pastor Oyakhilome's marriage with wife Anita over infidelity

altCHRIST Embassy Church founder Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his wife Anita have finally been granted a divorce by a London High Court of Justice Principal Registry of the Family Division ending a two year marital row.

On April 9 2014, Pastor Oyakhilome's wife Anita, filed for a divorce citing unreasonable behaviour and adultery as her grounds for seeking a separation. Subsequently, her lawyers Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, followed this up by serving her husband with the divorce papers.

In what appeared to be a bitter response, Pastor Oyakhilome got the church to delete all references to his wife from its website. He later took this a step further by sacking one of his top clergywomen in London, Reverend Grace for organising a prayer session during which she called for church members to pray for their embattled leader and his wife.

Popular gospel singer and songwriter Osinachi Kalu popularly known as Sinach then replaced Anita Oyakhilome on Christ Embassy Church's website. In what appears to be an end to the saga, the High Holborn court granted  Anita’s divorce wishes based on the unreasonable behaviour and marital infidelity  of her former husband.

A Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors spokesman said: “We have been requested by Anita Oyakhilome to confirm that on the 8th February 2016 a decree absolute was pronounced in the High Court of Justice Principal Registry of the Family Division dissolving her marriage to Christian Onehirokpeana Oyakhilome. Anita Oyakhilome would like to confirm that she is no longer involved in or part of Christ Embassy AKA Believers Loveworld Inc.”

Anita was the vice president of the church and had been married to Pastor Oyakhilome for over 20 years, with their relationship producing two teenage daughters Sharon and Charlyn. Pastor Oyakhilome's congregation is reported to be 40,000 strong and Forbes estimated his net worth, which includes diversified interests such as newspapers, magazines, a local television station, a record label, satellite TV, hotels and extensive real estate, at $50m.
