NFF slaps $30,000 fine on Sunday Oliseh over his Youtube outburst calling critics insane

NIGERIAN Football Federation (NFF) officials have slapped a $30,000 fine on Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh for his indiscretion in releasing a Youtube video in which he lambasted his critics as insane people.

 

Last week, Oliseh released the video in which he attacked his critics, mainly members of the NFF technical committee for criticising the poor performance of the home-based Eagles in the recently concluded Championship of African Nations (Chan) tournament. Nigeria got knocked out in the group stages after losing 0-1 to Guinea in the final group game.

 

Following the criticism of how the team played, Oliseh hit back at his critics, calling them insane for calling for his sacking, saying Chan was not a major priority. Members of the NFF's technical committee then recommended that Oliseh be sacked and when the federation refused to budge, they resigned en-mass in protest.

 

Although Oliseh has since apologised for his outburst, the NFF has decided to fine him as his punishment in the debacle. Sports minister Solomon Dalong and NFF chairman Amaju Pinnick hope that this will now draw a line under the matter and allow Oliseh to focus on next month's two-legged African Nations Cup qualifiers against Egypt.

 

Meanwhile, two players Oliseh is likely to look at are expected to be in action today as Victor Moses and Emmanuel Emenike are both expected to line up for West Ham in today’s clash with Norwich City at Carrow Road. Both players are on loan at the Hammers and although Emenike has resigned from international football, Moses is very much a part of the Super Eagles and expected to feature against Egypt.

 

Emenike, who is technically a Fernebahce player, joined West Ham in the January transfer window on loan from United Arab Emirates club Al Ain. Moses, who is owned by Chelsea, is on a season long loan at Upton Park.
