ENGLISH Premiership giants Arsenal have made enquiries about former Flying Eagles striker Umar Sadiq with a big to luring him to London from Italy where he is currently playing for Roma.
Six feet five inches tall, Sadiq is a conventional targetman, who is very powerful, good in the air and holds the ball up brilliantly. This season he has broken into the Roma first team and scored five goals in nine Uefa Youth League games and two in his six Serie A appearances.
Arsenal are subsequently reported to have tabled an offer worth £13m for the teenager with the transfer to be completed once the summer window opens. Manager Arsene Wenger will have to act fast, however, as Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring Umar's progress and Roma are in no rush to sell their latest starlet.
His agent Mohammed Lawal said: “Yes we have been approached by Arsenal but they are not the only team interested in Sadiq as Borrussia Dortmund are also pushing for him. In the coming days or weeks we will know where he is heading to, but for now he is very happy and focused at Roma.”
Wenger recently agreed a five year deal for Golden Eaglets captain Kelechi Nwakali, worth £3m who is expected to join the Gunners next season. Already, Arsenal have another Nigerian youngster Alex Iwobi on their books.
