Enyeama rules out returning to the Super Eagles for Nations Cup qualifiers against Egypt

FORMER Super Eagles skipper Vincent Enyeama has ruled out returning to the national team for the forthcoming African Nations Cup qualifiers against Egypt coming up later this month despite a likely recall from new coach Samson Siasia.

 

Last year, goalkeeper Enyeama retired from international football following as bitter disagreement with Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh. Last week, however, Oliseh resigned following repeated disagreements with the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and U23 coach Siasia has been put in temporary charge of the team for now.

 

Siasia will be in charge of the two-legged home-and-away Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt taking place on March 23 and 29 and has said he will re-invite players who retired under Oliseh like Enyeama and striker Emmanuel Emenike. However, Enyeama has said he will not be honouring the invitation, just as Emenike did a few days ago.

 

Enyeama said: “I don’t want to talk about this issue again. I think my earlier decision stands.”
