Ex-Anambra governor Peter Obi wades into P-Square dispute asking twins to stay together

altFORMER Anambra State governor Peter Obi has waded into the dispute between musical twins Peter and Paul Okoye popularly known as P-Square and urged them to seek a rapprochement by getting back together.

One of Africa's most successful bands ever, P-Square make about $150,000 per show and their permanent Nigerian home known as Squareville in Lagos is worth an estimated $3m. On 4 April 2010, P-Square was named the Artist of the Year at the All Africa Music Awards while they were in London for a concert, receiving a whopping sum of $1m as the award winners.

Over the last week, however, the twins have become estranged, with each of them pledging to commence solo careers. Yesterday, Peter announced his new management team and released his solo single called Look Into My Eyes under the new stage name Mr P, while Paul the other half of the group, released his own debut titled Call Heaven.

In response to calls from their fans to end the feud, Governor Obi has resolved to wade into the crisis. He has already rung the due making it clear he is highly disappointed with the two brothers and called them separately to advise them against making a decision that will ruin their careers.

One source close to the twins said: “There’s still hope for them to remain together. The former governor called both of them separately on Monday, including their elder brother Jude and advised them not to allow outsiders come between them, reminding them of the old African adage that says, blood is thicker than water.”

At the moment the most pressing thought in the minds of their fans and music lovers is who among the two talented brothers will rock the Nigeria entertainment industry better. In his song, Paul who now prefers to be called Rudeboy lamented the death of their parents and how it has affected the unity of P-Square.
