LIVING Faith Church Worldwide founder Bishop David Oyedepo has attributed Nigeria's socio-economic challenges to systemic failures and not bad political or personal leadership which is a popular opinion.
Bishop Oyedepo, who is also the chancellor of Landmark University, Omu Aran in Kwara State, has traced the socio-economic challenges confronting Nigeria to systemic failure. He added that there was no point blaming political parties or individuals for the nation’s challenges.
Making the declaration during an interaction with newsmen at the fifth founder’s day celebration of the university, Bishop Oyedepo, however, urged the present government to be more sensitive to issues that affect ordinary people. He noted that things had not been working well in the country.
Bishop Oyedepo added: “Our problem is a systemic problem not political or leadership problem and we must find solution to it. Nigeria will not go down the drain, we will proffer solution to it.
“ Anybody can make mistakes but if people in authority are not sensitive to the cry of the people, we would keep making more mistakes. My understanding is that it is never late to be right, so if a decision is made and we discover it is not right, we should do an informed review.”
According to Bishop Oyedepo, Nigeria should not be where it is today if things were done better. He for instance attributed the current foreign exchange scarcity problems to limitations with small scale industries, which is where the bulk of Nigeria employment is.
