SUPER Eagles head coach Samson Siasia is banking on the experience of English Premiership duo Victor Moses and Mikel Obi to help overcome Egypt in the forthcoming African Nations Cup qualifier taking place in Kaduna later this month.
On March 25, the Eagles will take on the Egyptians in Kaduna and four days later they will play the return leg in Alexandra in what promises to be the tie of the round. Siasia, who recently took over from Sunday Oliseh as Eagles coach on an interim basis, is targeting six points from the two games and has handed Moses, who was estranged under Oliseh a recall to the squad.
For the tie, Siasia has invited 42 players and has said he is banking on the experience of his Premiership stars to carry the day against the Egyptians. On Sunday the Super Eagles camp opened in Abuja and Nigeria needs to at least win the first game to overtake Egypt who already on top of the group with six points from two games so far.
Siasia said: “Egypt will be coming with their best players and I strongly feel Mikel and Moses’ wealth of experience will come in handy if we are to pick three points against Egypt in Kaduna. I am really impressed with Mikel’s attitude towards this important game as he has called in to confirm his readiness for the clash.
“Victor Moses has pledged to return too and this is quite encouraging at a time we need our top players against Egypt. I want to passionately appeal to Nigerians, everybody, to show belief in the team and give us total support."
According to Siasia, it will not be easy but if the team sticks together and presents a united force to fight this battle, he believes they will triumph. Egypt's Pharaohs will head to Kaduna for the first leg of the qualifier, while the second leg will be held in Alexandria, on March 29.
