Troops shoot dead Boko Haram commander listed as 95 on list of 100 most wanted terrorists

altNIGERIAN Army troops have killed a notorious Boko Haram terrorist listed as number 95 on its list of most wanted 100 members of the sect after he and a group of others were intercepted at the Daban-Masara fishing village in Borno State.

In a morale-boosting operation, soldiers shot the terrorist and other gang member in the small community in Kukawa Local Government Area as they were trying to ferry over 200 litres of petrol to an unknown destination. During the operation, the insurgents attempted to resist the troops of 7 Multinational Joint Task Force Brigade’s Quick Response Group and the 118 Task Force Battalion stationed in Baga but were effectively overwhelmed.

Nigerian Army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman, who confirmed the development, said the troops sprang an ambush along the Daban-Masara axis usually used by Boko Haram terrorists elements to convey logistics. It was gathered that the dead leader had been a major motivational sub-leader of the insurgents in that axis of Borno State.

Col Usman added: “During the encounter, one of the suspected wanted Boko Haram terrorists' leaders who is serial number 95 on the first Nigerian Army's wanted list of 100 terrorists leaders, was fatally wounded in the exchange of fire. He later gave up while receiving medical attention at the base.

"Other members of his team escaped with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered seven jerry cans containing 210 litres of petrol, motorcycles and food stuff in addition to arms and ammunitions.”
