Gombe youths invade the home of their legislator demanding better representation

IRATE youths in Gombe State invaded the residence of the current House of Representatives’ member for Dukku Nafada Federal Constituency Hajiya Aishatu Jibril Dukku to protest her poor representation of them.

 

Gombe is one of the poorest states in Nigeria and is located in the northeast of the country that has suffered from economic stagnation due to the Boko Haram insurgency. Although not badly affected like neighbouring Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states where Boko Haram are most active, Gombe has suffered from economic stagnation.

 

Very little investment has gone into the state of late and few jobs have been created, providing very little hope for the youths there. Frustrated at this lack of action, local youths invaded the home of Hon Dukku yesterday demanding better representation from her in the National Assembly.

 

Some of the angry youths, who alleged that the parliamentarian had not been carrying them along, said they took the action to warn her that they could not be used and dumped like trash after realising her ambition of getting into the legislative chamber. Heavily armed policemen have been drafted to the residence of the legislator in Abuja Quarters Gombe to forestall any skirmishes.
