FORMER Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike may end up playing in Spain with struggling La Liga club Real Sociedad next season after English Premiership side West Ham revealed that it will let him go at the end of the season.
Emenike joined West Ham from United Arabs Emirates club Al-Ain in the January transfer window and although he has featured regularly of late, the Hammers appear not to be impressed enough with him to offer the striker a permanent deal. Emenike, who has scored two goals in nine appearances, both in the 5-1 FA Cup fifth-round victory over Blackburn Rovers was to be offloaded back to his parent club Fernebahce in Turkey.
However, it appears Real Sociedad has identified Emenike as a prime transfer target in the summer transfer window as the Basque side moves to solve its goal-scoring woes. Known as The Royals, Real Sociedad who are placed 12th in the Spanish top flight, have scored 42 times so far this term, with top scorer Imanol Agirretxe finding the back of the net 13 times.
With Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan reportedly set to bid for Carlos Vela, Real Sociedad's 27-year-old striker who once played for Arsenal, in the summer, The Royals' manager Eusebio Sacristan is said to be keen on signing Emenike as a replacement. Real Sociedad, the Basque side are looking into the possibility of signing Emenike on the cheap as they worry about the future of some of their star players.
