VIGILANTE group the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has found one of the 219 pupils kidnapped by Boko Haram from Government Girls Secondary School Chibok in April 2014 discovering her in the Sambisa Forest close to the Cameroonian border.
Formed to help the military take on Boko Haram, the CJTF have been instrumental in the fight against the terrorists, given that they are local men who know the terrain. Since the girls were abducted two years ago, they have been assisting the Nigerian Army in searching for the girls and passing on intelligence about Boko Haram.
Two days ago, CJTF operatives found Amina Ali Nkeki in the Sambisa Forest and one of his members recognised her as a Chibok schoolgirl. Hosea Abana Tsambido, the chairman of the Chibok community in Abuja, said that Amina was found by the vigilantes after venturing into the forest to search for firewood.
With her discovery, Boko Haram is still holding 218 of the girls. Amina is believed to have come from the town of Mbalala, south of Chibok, from where 25 of the kidnapped girls also came.
Due to be moved to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital for debriefing soon, Amina was said to have been found with a baby. Her uncle, Yakubu Nkeki, said that Amina who was 17 when was abducted but is now 19, has been reunited with her mother in Chibok.
He added that she pointed out that all the Chibok girls are still there in Sambisa Forest, except six of them that have already died. Nigerian Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman confirmed that they had found one of the missing girls.
