SUPER Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho ended his first season in the English Premiership with a bang over the weekend scoring Manchester City's lone goal during its 1-1 draw with Swansea City earning the club a Uefa Champions league spot.
Iheanacho, 19, has been a revelation in his first full season in England, establishing himself in the first team squad and becoming one of the fans' favourites. Yesterday, he helped Manchester City secure a point, which enabled the club to finish fourth in the Premiership, head of neighbours and rivals Manchester United.
Manchester City required at least a point on the final day of the 2015/16 season at the Liberty Stadium to avoid being upstaged by Manchester United whose game against Bournemouth was abandoned. Iheanacho scored his eighth Premier League goal yesterday with just 12 shots on target, enabling them to achieve that feat.
Arsenal finished second in the Premier League for the first time since 2005 as they beat relegated Aston Villa thanks to an Olivier Giroud hat-trick. Giroud headed Arsenal ahead early on but the hosts played nervously until he struck again, sweeping home from six yards after good work by Mesut Ozil.
Later, the Frenchman was then put through by Hector Bellerin for his third. Leicester City fought back from a goal down to draw at Chelsea, the team they deposed as Premier League champions.
Manchester United's game against Bournemouth was called off after a suspect package was found at Old Trafford. The game did not start after police advice and the stadium was evacuated when an operation red code alert was heard over the tannoy.
