RUMOURS that Christ Embassy Church founder Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and his wife Anita are getting back together after a recent divorce granted by a London High Court have been dismissed as mere speculation by the clergyman's wife.
Now bearing her maiden name, Pastor Anita Ebhodaghe, who helped her husband found the church and is a member of the clergy in her own right, refuted claims that she has reconciled with Pastor Oyakhilome, and returned to the church. Over the weekend, several blogs had reported that the couple have sorted out their differences and were getting back together.
However, Pastor Ebhodaghe said: "It has been brought to my attention that there are persistent rumours and misinformation about my marital status being circulated and I would like to address the certain reconciliation rumours with this statement. Further to the formal notification of the dissolution of marriage made by my solicitors earlier this year, please note that this has not changed and I am no longer a part of Christ Embassy aka Believers Loveworld or any such organisation in any capacity.
“I am reiterating this to ensure that no one is misled by the false rumours or unfounded statements that show up and are spread from time to time on the Internet. Any additional statement concerning me will be issued by my solicitors, who are my legal representatives so please do not be deceived.”
On February 8, Pastor Ebhodaghe's solicitors Attwaters Jameson Hill, had confirmed that the marriage had been dissolved and their client was dropping the name Oyakhilome from henceforth. Anita was the vice president of the church and had been married to Pastor Oyakhilome for over 20 years, with their relationship producing two teenage daughters Sharon and Charlyn.
