Super Eagles game against Luxemburg will now hold on May 31 due to Tour de France

NIGERIA'S international friendly match against Luxemburg originally scheduled to take place on June 1 has been brought forward by 24 hours as a result of the Tour de France cycling competition.

Originally, the game was due to hold four days after a match against Mali in France on May 27 but has now been moved to May 31. Over the weekend, the Football Association of Luxembourg write to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), explaining that the match had to be moved forward by a day as a result of the Tour de France cycling competition, in with Luxembourg much involved.

NFF team administrator Enebi Achor, said: “The change in date will not in any way affect our programme. The entire contingent will move to Luxembourg from Rouen in France, where we will play Mali on May 27, so we will still have three days to train for the match against Luxembourg.”

Nigeria's match in Luxembourg will now take place at 7pm on Tuesday, May 31, at the Josy Barthel Stadium in the country’s capital city. Both the Mali and Luxemburg games will serve as part of preparations for the first matches of the 2018 World Cup qualifying series to be played later this year.
