Three men arrested in Lagos for damaging mosque and injuring worshipping by driving into it

altPOLICE in Lagos State have arrested three men accused of deliberately crashing into a mosque on Lagos Island while the Muslim faithful were praying damaging the building after organising a riot.

 

According to the police, the trio, Micheal Obi, Ahmed Ogunfowoke and Tijani Yakubu, were also involved in moving around with harmful weapons and threatening the community, and also disrespecting police Corporal Obi Chinedu.  All three were arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly forming an unauthorised group and causing a riot on March 15, at about 7pm on Lagos Island.

 

Also, the defendants were charged with the burning a motorcycle worth N120,000 and burning a used wagon car, which they allegedly used to hit the wall of a mosque, thereby, damaging it. All three defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges

.

Magistrate Aje Afunwa, granted the defendants N200,000 bail and adjourned the case till June 2016. They will remain in custody until they can fulfil their bail conditions.
