Buhari inspected in London today for 10-day medical trip to treat nagging ear infection

altPRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari will arrive in London later today for a 10-day break during which he will receive treatment on a nagging ear infection and recuperate amid the likelihood that he will have an operation.

 

According to sources within the presidential villa, President Buhari is reported to be seriously ill with Meniere Disease that has hampered his hearing in his left ear. He is also said to routinely complain of severe pains and unusual sounds from that ear, which has resulted in him cancelling three official trips lately,

 

Perturbed about the ailment, which has been afflicting the 73-year old president for the last two weeks, his medical team have recommended that he see an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist in London. Femi Adesina, President Buhari's spokesman, said that he had been examined by his personal physician and an ENT specialist in Abuja and both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation.

 

However, he dismissed suggestions that President Buhari was gravely ill, adding that he has been carrying out his duties as usual. Over recent weeks, however, President Buhari has cancelled several engagements, including planned trips to Rivers and Lagos states, sending vice president Professor Yemi Osinbajo instead.
