PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja after a 13-day trip to the UK where he went for treatment on an ear infection saying he is as fit as a fiddle and all set to resume his official duties.
Earlier this month, President Buhari travelled to London for a 10-break break to have an infection on a nagging ear problem treated and to recuperate from the operation. He was supposed to return last Friday but his trip got extended by a further three days to enable him reconvalence properly.
According to State House doctors, President Buhari was ill with Meniere Disease that had hampered his hearing in his left ear and he is also said to suffer from a cough. However, it appears that after a successful operation in the UK, the matters have now been addressed and yesterday, the president touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
President Buhari said: “You have seen me and you saw me when I was going. You can do the assessment yourself.
“I am okay, you can see me inspecting the guard of honour and you can see I am taller than you. Do you want to wrestle with me, you can do so.”
Prior to his trip, President Buhari had cancelled a number of engagements in Lagos, Cross River and Rivers States, fuelling speculation about his health. Yesterday, he was received by several governors and ministers, as well as a retinue of presidency officials and personnel assistants.
