altNOTORIOUS Bayelsa State armed robbery suspect Ikadoi Isere popularly known as White Witch has shocked police officers who recently arrested him when he revealed that he is a special adviser on oil and gas matters to Governor Seriake Dickson.

A native of Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Mr Isere, 27, was arrested alongside Daniel Gogo, also known as Full Payment and Ifeanyi Kalu recently. Following his arrest, he stunned his interrogators when he told them that he was recently appointed as a special adviser to Governor Dickson prior to his arrest.

All three suspects were accused of participating in no fewer than 15 bank and bullion van robbery and kidnappings in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital and some southeast states. Police sources disclosed  that  three Ak47 rifles, a Lan rifle, 360 rounds of live ammunition, 20 magazines, five sticks of dynamites, two pistols, rifle servicing equipment and three exotic cars were recovered from the suspects after  their hideouts were raided in Bayelsa State.

One police source said:  “White Witch and members of his gang had killed over 20 policemen and made away with their rifles in separate robbery operations within Port Harcourt city, between 2012 and 2016. This is one of the city’s most dreaded robbery gangs and Daniel Gogo, who is popularly known as Full-Payment, is their leader."

Police operatives eventually trailed the gang to Bayelsa State, where they were arrested and large catch of arms and ammunitions were recovered from them.  They reportedly confessed during interrogations that they made over N400m from robbing several banks and bullion vans and also kidnapped several prominent businessmen, civil servants and oil workers across Port-Harcourt.

Mr Gogo said that he invested a large chunk of his share of the loot in setting up a local oil refinery within the creeks of Bayelsa State. Mr Isere, stated that he invested a large share of his loots on his siblings, wife and his aged mother and also used some in sponsoring the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the last general election in Bayelsa State.

He explained that he mobilized people to vote for PDP and used the gang’s rifles to protect electoral materials during the last governorship election in Nembe Local Government Area of the state. White Witch said he joined the gang in 2010 when one of his elder brothers who is a member of Vikings Confraternity  introduced him to Full Payment in Port Harcourt.

Mr Isere said: “I am a member of Icelander Confraternity and I am the executioner in-charge of Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.  My elder brother IJB, who is also a member of Vikings linked me to my boss, Full Payment, who is also a member of Vikings and he asked him to assist me."

According to Mr Isere, at the time, he was highly frustrated because after he finished learning underwater welding through the Presidential Amnesty Programme, he had no job. He added that he was not getting the complete amount from the stipend given to ex-militants in the Niger Delta, so had to resort to crime.
