Seven year old lawyer's son kills househelp mistaking his father's gun for a toy in Aba

ABIA State police are investigating a bizarre death after a seven year old boy accidentally shot dead his parent's house-help while playing with his father's gun in the commercial city of Aba.

 

Apparently, the father who was a lawyer had the gun lying around the house and while his son was playing and joking with it, the firearm went off. Apparently, the child was said to have picked the father’s gun from his bedroom, thinking it was a toy gun.

 

One eyewitness said: “The child pointed the gun at the house help and jokingly said I will kill you and pulled the trigger. The gun went off and hit the house help and she died before she could receive medical attention.”

 

Ogbonnaya Nta, a spokesman for the Abia State Police Command, who confirmed the death of the house-help, added that investigations were currently ongoing on to ascertain what led to the incident. It is not yet clear if any criminal charges will be brought against the lawyer or his son.
