Six siblings die from food poisoning in Anambra's Nnewi South Local Government Area

altSIX siblings have tragically died in Ekwulumili in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State after eating poisoned food said to have been served to them by an unknown person.

In an unprecedented tragedy that has thrown the community into a state of shock and confusion, all six children passed away after being served a meal. Upon hearing the news, the parents of the deceased children were said to have attempted to commit suicide but were prevented from doing so by neighbours.

Local resident Ewenike Ogechukwu, said: “The children were poisoned by an unknown person through the food they kept at home in Ekwulumili, Anambra State. However, a serious investigation is in progress now and the culprits must be figured out and not go on punished.”

Another local resident Chidozie Venantius, added: “The town has been boiling since Saturday as a family lost six children in what they deemed as food poisoning. The parents want to commit suicide.”

Ali Okechukwu, the Anambra State Police Command spokesman, said he had not been officially informed about the incident. He, however, promised to contact the police division in charge of the area to find out more.
