POLICE have arrested two brothers in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State after they allegedly conspired to kill a woman identified as Rohimat Kehinde and a girl known as Fasilat Azeez to implicate their eldest brother over a family inheritance.
In a highly complicated criminal conspiracy, the brothers, Saidi and Idris Amadu, were angry at their late father for giving their older brother Ayodele 40 cows following his death. They only received 10 cows each as their own inheritance, so decided to set their brother up as a way of getting back at him.
Kwara State police commissioner Samuel Okaula, paraded the brothers in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, revealing that they pulled their corpses close to the residence of Ayodele to implicate him. Upon the discovery of the corpses near his house, Ayodele was arrested, charged to court and remanded in prison custody.
Mr Okaula said the late woman’s husband, Kehinde Babatunde, of Igba-Iroko/Alapa village in Asa Local Government Area of the state reported that assailants had gruesomely murdered his wife and Azeez as they were hawking drugs and other items around the Gaa-Arasiko area near Alapa. Investigations later revealed the true culprits behind the murders.
"On interrogation, the suspects confessed that they both conspired to commit the heinous crime in order to implicate their eldest brother, Ayodele Amadu, now in prison, who was alleged to have taken a larger portion of the property left behind by their late father. They also confirmed that their elder brother is innocent of the crime,” Mr Okaula added.
