Nasarawa police rescue two Chinese expatriates abducted by kidnappers earlier this month

altMEN of the Nasarawa State Police Command have rescued two Chinese expatriates who were ambushed and kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ajage village on August 5 this year.

 

Jien Yung, 50 and Wen So Ping, 45, attached to West African Polaris Investment were ambushed and kidnapped at Ajage village, in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ismaila Numan, the expatriates were rescued after the command adopted aggressive intelligence-led policing by deploying both conventional Mobile and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad police personnel to comb the area suspected to be the kidnappers’ hideout.

 

He added: “As a result of the extensive and sustained pressure from the search party, the victims were released by their kidnappers on August 6 at about 1830hrs. Both victims were taken to hospital for proper medical check-ups and efforts are still on to trace and arrest their kidnappers as investigation is in progress.”

 

Mr Numan added that the rescue team included local vigilantes led by the assistant commissioner of police operations. He reiterated that the command will continue to strategise its crime prevention and control methodology by striving to bring the crime rate to the barest minimum in the state and solicited the support of members of the public in the onerous task as he noted that task of a crime-free society is a collective responsibility.
