Buhari's special adviser on political affairs says public officials are suffering too

altPRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari's special adviser on political matters Senator Babafemi Ojudu has revealed that officials serving in the government are feeling the pinch of the current economic crisis in the country despite their exalted offices.

According to Senator Ojudu, in place of the luxuries and affluence which usually characterises political office in Nigeria, sacrifice has become the lot of ministers, special advisers and chief executive officers of government agencies and parastatals. He likened the current situation of the political appointees to that of the ordinary Nigerian in the face of the economic crisis in the country.

In addition, Senator Ojudu, who noted that he had not been able to renew his rent which expired in May, also revealed that most ministers, except for those who had served as governors, were squatting with family friends in Abuja. He added that he himself has no personal staff and no official car.

Senator Ojudu added:  “People tell me what my office was like when I was not here but now, the air conditioners you are seeing, I had to buy them myself. These bulbs you are seeing, I bought them myself.

"The TV inside, I bought it myself as the government couldn’t even do it for me. I have no personal staff and no official car.”
