Kanu bags hat trick in Arsenal veterans' charity match against Milan Glorie yesterday

FORMER Super Eagles skipper Nwankwo Kanu scored a hat trick yesterday in a charity game at the Emirates Stadium involving the Arsenal and Milan veterans aimed at raising money for good causes.

 

In a match that featured several past Arsenal greats including Martin Keown, Gilberto Silva, Marc Overmars and Robert Pires, Kanu opened the scoring in a game that ended 4-2 to the Gunners. Proceeds from the game will go to charitable objectives as the Arsenal Foundation will donate £1m to build football pitches for children in London, Jordan and Somalia.

 

Known as Milan Glorie, the Italian team included the likes of Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Costacurta, Christian Vieri and Zvonimir Boban. Among those who got on the scoresheet with Pires who scored Arsenal's fourth goal and Vieri, who scored twice for Milan Glorie in a highly entertaining charity game.

 

Despite Kanu being 40-years-old, the striker's potency in front of goal was something which got Gunners fans excited - given the club's recent struggles in the striking department. After the game, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to tease that the veterans are better goalscorers than members of the current team.
