Liverpool sign pre-contract papers with 15-year old Nigerian defender Emeka Obi

ENGLISH Premiership side Liverpool have commenced plans to sign Nigerian-born 15-year-old centre-back Emeka Obi from League One side Bury with a six-figure sum set to paid for the six foot five inch youngster.

Obi made his debut as a substitute in the Football League Trophy in August, against Morecambe and having equipped himself well on his debut, has caught the eye of big clubs. Apparently, pre-contract papers have all been signed but the clubs are now waiting on the FA and the Football League’s approval.

Also, due to Obi's Nigerian heritage, visa issues are currently holding up the move. However, the player himself seems confident the move will go through, having changed his Twitter description to Footballer at Liverpool FC.

Bury manager David Flitcroft, said: “I think he’s the best talent right now at 15 years old in the entire country. He only came in the building two years ago and nothing fazes him.

“He’s been training with the first team and he’s going back to school next week. We’ve had him for five weeks, training with the first team, training with Ryan Kidd and he’s been playing with the under-18s."

Mr Flitcroft described Obi as a man mountain, adding that he is going to be an unbelievable asset to the football club. He said the a kid is really switched on and while he was on summer holidays, he turned up for training every single day.
