TRADITIONAL ruler the Oluwo of Iwo Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi has denied calling the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch Adeboye and Bishop David Oyedepo false prophets.
Over recent days, reports have been circulating that Oba Akanbi said that Pastor Adeboye and Bishop Oyedepo, the founder of the Living Faith World Outreach, are not true men of God. However, in a swift response, the Oluwo, who said that there was no time he said the two renowned preachers were fake pastors.
Oba Akanbi said he was saddened by the stories posted by some online media and bloggers, which he believed were fabricated to pit him against the two men of God. Of late, many of Nigeria's evangelical preachers have come under attack from numerous sources for being businessmen and commercialising Christianity.
However, Oba Akanbi has denied joining the criticism of the clergymen, stating that his recent comments on the subject of men of God were twisted. He recently delivered a lecture organised by the City People Magazine where he spoke about the functions of obas in the 21st century.
“What they are saying is not true. I didn’t attack them and I did not say they are not men of God.
"I said obas are the representatives of God on earth and men of God are messengers of God. That was where I think they twisted but I never said they are not men of God,” Oba Akanbi added.
