Indigenous People of Biafra congratulates Trump expecting his government's support

SECESSIONIST group the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) has sent a congratulatory message to US president-elect Donald Trump in a clear indication that it expects him to recognise their planned breakaway republic when he assumes office.

Yesterday, arch-conservative and strident nationalist Mr Trump was declared winner of the US presidential election and is due to assume office in January. Known to loathe international organisations, Mr Trump is seen by Ipob as a natural ally who will support their cause and help realise their ambition of creating a sovereign state.

Ipob publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, said: “Ipob, under the command structure of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu congratulates Donald Trump. He passed through so many trials and so many odds from the leadership of the party but God Almighty made it possible for him to become the president of United States of America.

“He should also remember his promises to the people of America and other peoples across the globe because the USA is going to be great again by the power of God Almighty who selected him from the midst of millions in America.”

Similarly, Niger Delta youths have expressed their readiness to work with Mr Trump describing his electoral victory as unprecedented in the country’s political history. In a joint statement issued by the Niger Delta Youth Forum and the Niger Delta Izon Youth Forum signed by Kemeizonpoumokumor Ayuba, they said the people of the oil-rich Niger Delta were counting on Mr Trump to prevail on the Nigerian government to enable them to enjoy their God-given resources through restructuring and ownership of such resources.
